I wasn't sure where to start and what to use for an attention getter. I have never had to really write about myself so it was different trying to think what all do i include. After getting passed the beginning the speech pretty much just flowed the rest of the way through it. Another thing that took a little while was making the slideshow for it. I had to go back through a box of pictures that I could scan on my computer. After writting it I read through it once and the timing was just about perfect. Now I just have to prepare before I give it.

In preparing for Confirmation, our teacher set up a speaker for the class. She talked about how she didn't want to be confirmed and that it was alright not to go through with the classes if you were'nt ready for it. She kept an open mind when she let everyone ask questions about their Catholic faith. She made everyone feel comfortable with what they were asking about. Durning the retreat she kept everyone involved and made us confident about our decision in joining the church. She has probably been on of the most truthful speakers I have listened to in a long time and I think thats what makes her such a good speaker.

In my last blog I mentioned a couple of speakers I listened to in the past. The speaker from our MFE Conference was an awesome speaker. She talked to us about how important it is to become a leader. She said that being a leader is not just about the title, its about the responsibilities and opportunities that come with it. But its also about living with integrity and selflessness. In my opinion she related to the audience very well just by sharing some of her own experiences and showing that shes just like anybody else. Being a down to earth speaker I think the audiene really listened to her message and felt connected in her speech. She made me think and question why I really wanted to be a leader and an officer if FFA. I think thats something everyone should take into consideration when ever they start something new.

The community speaking events I am planning on attending, for writting in my blogs about include: a city council meeting, Board of supervisors, Hospital board meeting, NRD meeting, and a Rural Public Power meeting. Some SpeakersI have listen to in recent months include: A Motivational speaker for the National FFA. I listened to her speak at a Made for Excellence (MFE) Camp in the middle of February. Another speaker I have heard was a Confirmation speaker for kids that are taking classes to become and offical member of the church. I will talk about them in my next two blogs.

shelly dawn
